The German series #14 - Heinz Tetzner

Heinz Tetzner - self portrait
Heinz Tetzner (1920 - 2007) was a German expressionist painter and printmaker. Tetzner was born in Gersdorf (Saxony) and lived there until his death in 2007.
After his apprenticeship as a pattern designer in 1939, he was drafted into the military, but in 1941 he attended the Art Academy in Kaliningrad as a "visiting" student. After that, Tetzner was pretty much self-taught, mainly by studying Paul Cezanne. From 1944, Heinz Tetzner was a prisoner of war in Southern France. Until his release in 1946, he occupied himself intensely with drawing and water colours.
